About me.
Communication is a gift I’ve enjoyed for as long as I can remember. I am intrigued by all forms of communication. My fields of work are writing, photography and web development, but I’ve also worked as a disc jockey and a cameraman.

I started writing as a child, and by 14 I was announcing livestock shows at the Knox County Fair. Three years later, I was a paid reporter with the Mount Vernon News, where I worked for almost 4 years. I wrote sports, news and feature stories, and was a photographer and a camera-man. I left the company when I transferred to The Ohio State University. At OSU I began working as a photographer for The Ohio State Lantern, the school’s student newspaper. During the 2009-2010 scholastic year, I served as the institution’s Photography Editor.
Communication intrigues me. I love to rearrange words and to recant stories in the most gripping way. I enjoy sharing knowledge, ideas and thoughts. My first reporting job taught me that stories aren’t told in words, but in the thoughts those words invoke. When I became a photographer, I learned that thoughts are tied closely to emotions. The real trick is convincing thoughts and emotions to tell the same story at precisely the same time.
I have earned three journalism awards during my career. The first was in 2006 from the Associated Press Society of Ohio. It was an Honorable Mention in the category of Best Breaking News for a series of stories entitled “Flood of 2006.” Then, in 2009, the Society of Professional Journalists gave me a First Place Mark of Excellence Award for Region 4 (national). In 2010 I received an Honorable Mention for Best Sports Picture from the National Press Photographers Association, in conjunction with the Associated Collegiate Press.
My latest project is an attempt to unify the websites of the Townships of Knox County, Ohio. I work as a freelance web developer, writer and photographer in central Ohio.
A few of my friends and colleagues are: Jeff Simpson, Tom Cline, Chris Uhler, Marshall Leaman and Tara Parekh.
